Hi there! i currently using VQ turnkey with: motherboard: Intel E7527 OS: XP SP2 Dual Processor Xeon (TM) 3gHz 2Gb of Ram
1st OPTION : i'm planning to upgrade my editing system. I found that VQ isn't compatible to HD. I understood that VQ can upgrade with IVS PowerPack. The question is, if i use IVS PowerPack, is it possible if I replace P Drive (SCSI) to SATA. Through my experience the DPS files can save in SCSI only. Other than that the video will run unsmooth. Some more, SCSI also too expensive, small space disk & no longer in our market.
2nd OPTION: interested to buy IVS Edits & change the whole system according to your recommendation. my question: 1. Can i use IVS Edits without P Drive (SCSI) instead of only use SATA as my DPS storage. 2. I already have external i/o breakout box for VQ. Is that breakout box comparable with IVS Edits @ IVS Capture? 3. I’m using sony NEX FS100 with compression file HD MPEG4 AVCHD. Is it compatible with IVS Edits?
THANKS

Hello Elposite, welcome into our ivsEdits/Velocity forum.
1st Option: You can update your VQ with ivsPowerPack in order to be able convert HD files to DPS SD, or to capture from HD sources to DPS SD, but the editing will always be SD. With the right system you can stop using P: and SCSI drives, video will be always smooth. The only limitation will be the lack of VTFS (Virtual Tape File System, i.e. the real time virtual conversion of dps files into image files).
2nd Option: Your workstation is not adeguate for realtime HD editing, you'd change at least some PC components (CPU, Mainboard, Ram) to get the right power and memory bandwidth. 1) ivsEdits doesn't require the P: drive and SCSI drives. According to the data rate you want to deal with you can use a single SATA drive, a SATA RAID, a single SSD drive, or a RAID of SSDs to get several layers of uncompressed HD or 2K video. 2) The VelocityQ breakout box is only passive so it can't be used for ivsEdits I/O. ivsEdits I/O card can be OHCI Firewire (the integrated ports of your mainboards) or almost all Blackmagic Design ones, from the cheap Intensity Pro and Shuttle, Decklink SDI, Decklink Studio, Decklink HD Extreme 3D, Ultrastudio SDI, Ultrastudio Pro, etc. If you want to use your breakout box with ivsEdits, it is possible to create a conversion cable between the Blackmagic Card and the VQ Breakout Box. 3) The answer is yes, but to get the best editing experience it may be a good idea to convert the files in background.
If you'd need any other answers, you're welcome!

Hello Elposite, 1) Excuse me but I'm not sure to understand you. IvsEdits hasn't its own card, it uses Blackmagic Cards and Firewire OHCI only. You can preview video output video via our VGA/DVI/HDMI using the 2nd or 3rd video out of the graphic card. 2) According TNT Express table, the shipping of the USB dongle to Malaysia takes 3 days.

ok. I thought IVSEdits has its own card just like VQ. Normally through breakout box i have few option to video out using RGB@BNC@SVideo@RCA. Now i understand why i have to use blackmagic card or make a conversion cable the VQ breakout box.
