Don,
The low performance with HD playback depends from X7DA8 + very old Xeon Implementation (Dempsey). Also the next Xeon series with Core Micro Architecture impementation (woodcrest/clovertown) cant resolve the problem with very limited memory bandwitdh bottle neck typical of these type of architecture. To go with HD , Nehalem 1366Pins desktop boards are 4 or upto 8 times faster and are faster than new Xeons 5500 too. ivsEdits working in Full RGB32 requires a Cpu-Memory Bandwitdh more than double than other YUV based systems/software.
Currently our better config is based on Asus P6TD deluxe , Core i7 980X, 6GB RAm, NVIDIA GTX 275 or 285 (Warning! the GTX 460/470/480 seems to have a driver iussue and are unusable to use GPU accelerated effects like Turn Pages and GPU Perspective/Pip)

Thanks again Roberto. I went back to the good old Altitude for this project. Having looked at ivsEdits interface I love it- as far as I can tell. It feels very open- it is Velocity on steroids and seems very flexible. As I start using it I'll post my comments on the DPS forum-if they don't mind. I know there are several people there seriously considering iveEdits- I'll get my Multibrdige Pro set up first then try again over the next couple of weeks. |

Hi Gary, Just uninstalled IVS from the 32bit side of my system and will be trying it out on the 64 bit to see if I have better success. Once I've got through my current workload I'll be trying HDV capture- will let you know! Thanks
